Traditionally radio programmes were broadcast on different frequencies via FM and AM, and the radio had to be tuned into each frequency. Because this used up a large amount of space for a small number of stations, this system limited choice. DAB is a digital radio broadcasting system that allows audio streams to be broadcast onto a narrow band centred on a single broadcast frequency called a DAB ensemble which means more stations can broadcast over a smaller space.
